Economic Development Specialist

This position is responsible for expanding UI’s influence in business and community development circles as well as improving the attractiveness of the territory for businesses and communities while assisting businesses in staying and growing within the UI service territory. Additionally, the position is responsible for providing professional expertise to UI internal and external customers on economic development matters.
Key responsibilities include establishing partnerships and maintaining strategic relationships with state and economic development organizations and utilizing the resources of affiliates and professional organizations to enhance the company’s strategic interests. Maintains a high level of knowledge of regulatory, legislative, regional and national business and community issues that affect UI’s and the community’s competitive standing. Works closely with Client Services’ Strategic Account Services, CLM, and Sales & New Ventures teams to achieve department and customer goals. Develops, collects and disseminates economic development resource materials including development incentives. Develops and provides economic forecast data, and assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of economic development programs, including producing metrics that measure plan effectiveness.
There are two ED specialist positions on the Economic and Community Development team, reporting to the Director or Economic and Community Development. The team also includes a community development specialist and an economic and community development associate.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years experience in economic development or related field. The ideal candidate has a high degree of integrity, professionalism, initiative and energy level. Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects is key.
