CEDAS Seeks Nominations for Workforce Development Initiatives Awards


The Connecticut Economic Development Association (CEDAS) is seeking nominations for workforce development achievement awards. One award will be presented in each of the following categories – community college; business or company; workforce investment board; public or private organization involved in a partnership; and other institutions of higher education.

Applications are available online or by calling Trenton Wright at Middlesex Community College: (860) 343-5708. All organizations matching the category listings above and meeting the criteria listed on the application are encouraged to apply. Completed applications must be received by Wednesday, February 25 in order to be eligible for selection. Finalists will be notified by telephone or through the mail.

Middlesex Community College (MxCC), in partnership with CEDAS, will host an awards ceremony at their Middletown campus on Thursday, March 26, 2009 to recognize the five Connecticut organizations selected for their noteworthy workforce development initiatives. Attendance at the awards event is free with pre-registration and the public is invited. MxCC is located at 100 Training Hill Road and is handicapped accessible with plenty of free parking.

Presentations geared towards economic development within the community college system, as well as an exhibition showcase by the Center for Business and Industry Services of each Connecticut community college, will accompany the awards ceremony.

CEDAS is a not-for-profit membership organization committed to advancing the practice and process of economic development in Connecticut. It is the largest organization of economic development professionals in the state with over 222 members. CEDAS members include: municipal economic development professionals, practitioners and local economic development commissioners, state economic development professionals, regional economic development practitioners, private sector businesses related to the field, and educators from colleges and universities.
