Providing Value for our Members

  • Participated in 13 Municipal Economic Development Training Sessions with CERC.
  • Organized well-attended educational and networking workshops.
  • Membership maintained 372 members (slightly lower than 2015 but gaining professional diversity).
  • Collaborated with professional organizations (CMSC, CCAPA, NEDA, CERC, CREW, UIL Holding, EverSource, CoreNet, ICSC) offering extra value to CEDAS members.
  • Co-Sponsored events (CT Main Street Center Annual Gala, Celebrate CT, & MetroHartford Alliance).
  • Provide monthly CEDAS e-Newsletter focused on CEDAS members, Board communications, Membership benefits and events.
  • On-line registration increased CEDAS benefits.
  • Awarded 7 Lisa M. Kolodziej Scholarships for professional development.
  • Expanded CEDAS Academy value by partnering with the UCONN Economic Development Extension Program and CERC.

 

Monthly Activity consistently provided access…

  • January – CEDAS Board establishes 10 scholarships for the NEDA Conf.; Kick off Meeting for the NEDA Conference Planning Committee; Partner program with CREW;
  • February – CEDAS Academy “Navigating Connecticut’s Business and Licensing Requirements”; participates in HBJ Affinity Program for “Doing Business in CT” publication; Adopts CEDAS Policy Agenda;
  • March – CEDAS partners with Connecticut Green Bank (C-PACE); Partnered with DECD & CERC for Regional Forums; Partner with HBJ at the Municipal Collaboration Summit;
  • April – CEDAS Quarterly Meeting “Energy as an Economic Driver” Sponsored by EverSource; Hosted new DECD Deputy Commission Kollen; Kicked off CEDAS Academy UCONN Extension Program; Welcomed new SBA Connecticut District Director, Anne Hunt;
  • May – CEDAS welcomed DECD Commissioner’s Smith and Kollen back for an update on the State Economic Development Strategy; CEDAS Academy & Partnership Series with UCONN Extension had a record high of 84 participants for  “Marketing Your Community for Economic Development”; David Kooris resigns Board seat after taking DECD position.
  • June – CEDAS adding e-News feature for DECD Ambassadors; Co-Sponsorships: CT Main Street Center Award Gala in Mansfield;

  • July – CEDAS Quarterly Meeting “Using Art as an Economic Driver” in Milford;

  • August – CEDAS Partner program with MetroHartford Alliance at Travelers Championship Government Relations, Bonnie Stewart; Juliet Burdelski (Meriden) joins CEDAS Board filling vacancy left by Skip Alleman; Michael Andreana (Pullman & Comley) joins CEDAS Board filling vacancy left by David Kooris;

  • September - CEDAS hosted NEDAS for the 60th Annual Conference in New Haven, CT; CEDAS Academy “How to Use the C-PACE Funding”;

  • October – CEDAS Academy: Encore presentation from the NEDA Conf.: “What do the Beatles have to do with Economic Development?” delivered by Alissa DeJonge; IEDC Conference in Cleveland, OH; CEDAS has partnered with the CT Main Street Center to host a social networking event in Downtown Willimantic;

  • November – CERC Celebrate CT; and, • December: CEDAS Annual Meeting; CEDAS Academy Partnership Series with UCONN Extension “Farming Opportunities: Food Systems Strategies for Economic Development.
