CEDAS Takes Biotech and Breweries in Branford
9/10/2015
On August 19th, CEDAS members gathered on a beautiful afternoon at Branford’s newest attraction on the Branford River, the newly-expanded Stony Creek Brewery.
Terry Elton, Branford’s Economic Development Director and owner Ed Crowley, hosted CEDAS members, and highlighted the town’s successes in attracting some of the State’s most innovative Biotech startup, followed by a networking event. Dr. Todd Arnold from Mt. Sinai Genetics Lab also presented on how his company is playing a role in the biotech sector in Branford and why Connecticut’s policy environment, how Branford’s proximity to Yale/NY/Boston, quality of life and supportive economic development professionals suited their business model.
The setting, a modern brewery, built in just 18 months, features a stunning indoor/outdoor taproom, game pit, and dock access. Members had a first-hand look at their canning and bottling lines right from the taproom. The establishment is not only a destination for day-trippers and craft brew aficionados, but is a state-of-the art facility employing highly trained professionals sought after in an ever-competitive industry.
